Baby Boomer Blind Dating

We are so eye oriented, it dilutes our other senses. Visual deprivation can stimulate those senses. It?s well known that the blind develop enhanced receptiveness to smell, touch, and hearing.

?Dining in the dark? is a pop culture phenomenon that appeals to midlife baby boomers as well as adventurous youngsters. Restaurants are pitch black. although a niche market, locations are sprouting up all over the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Opaque, a leading franchise, has upscale spots in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Dallas.

Perhaps the darkness stimulates our brain as well, not simply enhancement of imagination but also intuition, right brain creativity/insight, even wisdom.

A television show, Dating in the dark, is a (literal) blind date. Couples talk and get to know each other completely in the dark. They can also communicate by computer and view the contents of luggage others brought. at the end, they make romantic choices and the person is revealed visually.

This approach may be especially relevant for baby boomers entering the dating market. It?s the sexual revolution re-evolving into the dark Ages. Let?s face it, no mater how well you?ve aged, we?ve lost a bit of that youthful bloom. But we have likely gained in maturity, wisdom and knowledge. Wouldn?t it be interesting to showcase the latter before the former?

Why stop there? start with meeting in the dark, have a candle lite romantic dinner date noir, and?when ready?then or later?experience the first amorous night in the dark.

The next morning you would agree meet in person over breakfast in the full glare of lighted reality. Only no cameras, please?unless very well compensated.

Let the french toast fall where it may.
