Polo player Ignacio Figueras: 'It's like playing golf in an earthquake'

Like horse racing, polo has long been known as the sport of kings. Polo has been played for over 2,000 years. In the past it has drawn royalty, the rich, and the famous. In the 1920s and 30s, a match could draw a crowd of 30,000. Now, Ignacio Figueras is trying to reignite a passion for polo in the United States.

Figueras is the most famous polo player in the world and is a model for Ralph Lauren's Polo line of clothes. He tells Lara Logan, a 60 Minutes reporter, about the sport. It takes blood, sweat and hard work. Figueras tells Logan that playing polo is more like playing golf in an earthquake than hockey on horseback.

In describing his own play, Figueras says "I am tough. I am not the most talented guy with the ball or playing. I run. I kick. I hit people hard. I never give up."

After speaking to experienced insiders, Logan also speaks to Kareem Rosser. Rosser, who was named the best high school polo player in the nation last year, is one of the reasons Figueras is hopeful for the future.? With youth like Rosser playing the game, Figueras maintains his belief that this ancient sport can be popular again in the future.
