Samsung Denies Ice Cream Sandwich to Galaxy S

Ice Cream Sandwich update is being dished out and Samsung has just announced that its Galaxy S would not be getting the treat. The company said that the phone lacks the proper specs to fully utilize the features of the update. It specifically stated that the phone is likely to have tough time running both its TouchWiz skin and Android 4.0 update simultaneously. However, Samsung Galaxy S is not alone in its predicament, apparently, Samsung has decided that its first generation Galaxy Tab also does not deserve the update treat.

According to a US gadget site, The Verge, ?The company?s argument is that they lack sufficient RAM and ROM to run the new OS alongside TouchWiz and other ?experience-enhancing? software.? However, the Korean company?s other phones would be getting the update over the course of next year. So, if you own Samsung Galaxy S II, then you are in luck and would be getting the update soon.

But the decision is unlikely to catch Galaxy S owners by surprise. After all, they had to wait a long time even for FroYo update. While Galaxy S had pretty good specs, the problem lies with its TouchWiz skin, as the phone would need customized update, rather than plain vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.
